Lexi Hutton is an Australian soprano and actress based in Europe. Acclaimed for her captivating stage presence she was a principal member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensemble for 10 years where her roles included Musetta (La Boheme), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Olympia/Giulietta/Antonia (Hoffmann), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Lisa (La Sonnambula), Lisette (La Rondine), Helena (A midsummer night‘s dream) among many others. Her operatic repertoire also includes Oscar (Un ballo in Maschera), La Comtesse Adele (Le Comte Ory), Blondchen (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Adina (L‘elisir d‘amore), and Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance).
In a variety of repertoire she has performed as a soloist with the Berliner Philharmonic Orchester, the Gewandhaus Orchester, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, and in the Konzerthaus Berlin with the Berlin Kammerorchester as well as with the Staatsoper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Oper Graz, Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Daegu Opera Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival, Verbier Festival, the Concordia Festival, and Second Movement.
Lexi was a Verbier Festival Young Artist where she specialised in Lieder with Thomas Quasthoff and studied Mozart recitative with Sir Thomas Allen. She was also a Britten-Pears Young Artist and appeared as Miss Wordsworth alongside Dame Felicity Lott‘s Lady Billows in Albert Herring, directed by Oliver Mears with Steuart Bedford conducting. She worked further with Maestro Bedford in Aldeburgh in the award winning Peter Grimes on the beach as the First Niece appearing on both the DVD of the production as well as the Live Concert recording at Snape Maltings, and in the 25th anniversary celebration work for Jubilee Opera entitled „A Time there was“ directed by Freddie Wake-Walker.
With only a few days notice, Lexi jumped-in to record the role of Virginia in Gordon Getty‘s The Canterville Ghost with Oper Leipzig and the Gewandhaus Orchester.
She appears on many DVD recordings from the Deutsche Oper Berlin including La Rondine, Jenufa and Francesca da Rimini as well as Peter Grimes on the beach from the Aldeburgh Festival.
Theatre and Musical Theatre roles include Kate (The Taming of the Shrew), Cathy (The Last Five Years), Sally Brown (You‘re a good man, Charlie Brown), Hope Cladwell (Urinetown), Maggie (Lend me a tenor), Meg (Seven Little Australians), Cinderella/Rapunzel (Into the Woods), Jennifer (The Witches of Eastwick), and Rosina in the Australian musical The Venetian Twins.
Lexi grew up in the small country town of Bingara in Northern NSW and is an Alumni of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal College of Music, London. She has been temporarily away from the stage to focus on her role as mother to her two young children.
